Tel Vana Ilvaney, only recently freed from its curse, is now under siege by the armies of the Unspoken. The only ones capable of saving the city are the Spellsworn, powerful warriors wielding the magic of the espers-and they are vanishing one by one. Something nefarious is afoot, but the defenders are too busy with battle to unearth the mystery. and too distracted to notice the sinister omens of another threat, much closer than any of them imagine.

High Lady Kortania and her star esper, Polaris, once again call on the four teenagers who changed the course of Grythican history: Levin, the fire-breathing demi-draconian Sunguard. Syndecai, the high-flying human Stormcaller. Calypso, the shadow elf Duskreaper who moves and strikes unseen. And Vydoniata, the sylvan Thorndancer with command over nature itself.

The four youths from Earth are eager to aid the defenders. But sometimes, victory and death come down to a roll of the dice.
