Hi, I’m Thorin, the solo developer behind Blossom, also known as Pebbledust Games.
This is a project I’m creating entirely on my own. It’s inspired by the games I grew up with-games that didn’t hold the player’s hand. You had to experiment, observe carefully, and gradually figure out how everything works. I wanted to recapture that sense of discovery in a calmer, more relaxing survival experience. The main goal is simple: bring life back to a dead planet.
So what is Blossom?
Disperse the fog by increasing the pressure and create ice. Melt it by raising the temperature to create water. Transform Martian dust into soil, then green the planet with algae. Plant flowers and trees to produce oxygen and make the sky blue. Grow forests and create biomes, then breathe life into the planet by incubating insects, birds, and animals.
Explore a changing world
Explore an uncharted planet. Travel across Mars on foot, by rover, or by air, reaching remote regions in search of resources or simply observing the fruits of your labor. Discover abandoned stations, ancient machinery, and shipwrecks. Visit orbital platforms and discover what happened to Earth and those who came before you.
At the start of each new game, Mars is generated slightly differently: the terrain, resource locations, and points of interest are generated anew each time.
You play as Blossom, a small but capable robot designed to survive where humans fail. Energy management is at the core of the gameplay: charge movement systems, tools, and mechanisms to maintain functionality in harsh conditions. Playing as a robot changes how you interact with the world. Electricity replaces food, so managing energy wisely is key to success.
Harvest Martian resources, recycle materials, automate processes with drones, and craft tools, machines, and structures. Discover blueprints, upgrade technologies, and build bases that grow with the planet, aiding in terraforming, exploration, and survival.
Build and configure modular rovers, install functional modules (batteries, storage, mining lasers), and organize them into convoys. Travel the planet, extract resources on the fly, and establish mobile or stationary outposts anywhere in the world. Your base is not tied to a specific location-it moves with you, allowing you to explore Mars on a planetary scale.
